Saigon is a must-visit stop on your Vietnam journey. Join our unforgettable day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels with Vietnam Backroads. Travel by speedboat, enjoy a light breakfast, cycle through peaceful rural villages, and explore the historic tunnels. After lunch, relax on the return to the city by air-conditioned minibus. Pickup from your hotel is included.

7:00 a.m. Meet your guide in your hotel lobby and transfer to the pier in District 1. After a 45-minute boat ride, enjoy the beautiful scenery along the riverbanks before disembarking at a local ferry landing to begin cycling.

Our truck driver and bike mechanic leave Saigon early in the morning with all the bicycles. By the time you arrive by boat, the bikes will be unloaded, checked, and ready to go. Each bike is tagged with your name, so you can simply pick it up and start exploring the lush green countryside along the Saigon River.

We cycle through rural farmland, past water spinach fields, fish farms, and fruit orchards, before reaching a ferry crossing. Along the way, we stop at a family-run business to learn how locals produce rice paper. After a short visit and a glimpse into daily local life, we continue riding through a rubber plantation, where you can see how latex is collected from the rubber trees.

There are many stops in the countryside to meet local people and enjoy cold water and snacks. We reach the Cu Chi Tunnels around noon. After a short refreshment break, say goodbye to the truck driver and bike mechanic, as there is no cycling in the afternoon.

At the tunnels, watch a documentary film about the Cu Chi Tunnels and the lives of the people who lived and fought there. Then take a guided tour through the three levels of tunnels. Visit the weapons and booby trap exhibitions, explore the authentic Viet Cong tunnel system, see the underground bunkers and hidden smoke kitchen, and finish with a chance to try the shooting range.

Afterward, enjoy a delicious traditional Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant by the Saigon River. We then return to Saigon by air-conditioned van or minibus.
