Embark on an unforgettable 5-day, 4-night cycling journey that weaves together culture, landscapes, and the timeless rhythm of life along the Mekong.

Your adventure begins in vibrant Phnom Penh, where the energy of Cambodia’s capital fades into tranquil countryside as you pedal toward Takeo. Along quiet backroads, you’ll pass stilted homes, emerald rice fields, and smiling locals, immersing yourself in the authentic charm of rural life.

Crossing the border at Tinh Bien, you enter Vietnam and arrive in the riverside town of Chau Doc, where cultures blend and the Mekong begins to reveal its magic. From here, your journey deepens—each day unfolding a new chapter of the Delta’s beauty.

Cycle through a tapestry of lush orchards, endless rice paddies, and winding waterways. Wake early to witness the vibrant floating markets, where boats brim with fresh fruits and the river becomes a bustling marketplace. Drift through peaceful villages, meet warm-hearted locals, and savor the flavors of the Delta.

Your route carries you through Can Tho, Tra Vinh, and Ben Tre—regions rich with coconut groves, hidden canals, and timeless traditions—before culminating in the dynamic pulse of Saigon.

This is more than a cycling tour—it’s a journey through living landscapes, a cultural immersion, and a story you’ll carry long after the ride ends.

After checking out of your hotel, enjoy a short transfer into the Cambodian capital before beginning today’s cycling adventure. Pedal through the countryside to visit the ancient temples of Ta Phrom and Yeay Pov, both dating back to the 12th century. Pause along the way for water and light snacks before continuing to Phnom Chisor, where an impressive 11th-century hilltop temple rewards you with sweeping views of the surrounding plains.

A relaxing picnic lunch awaits at a local countryside café, offering a taste of rural Cambodia. In the afternoon, continue cycling toward Takeo, passing Ta Mok’s house, once home to the former Khmer Rouge commander associated with Pol Pot. Often overlooked by travelers, Takeo is a fascinating town rich in history and cultural heritage.

Toward sunset, board a boat to Phnom Da, where you will visit the hilltop temple of this ancient site, once part of the early capital of the Funan Kingdom, one of the earliest great civilizations in the region.

The videos do look really good, and we really loved the trip we took with you. In terms of specific feedback, the things we look back on and will cherish the most was the simple interactions we had with the local Vietnamese people and the places where they worked and lived. Obviously every client is going to have different desires, but for people like us I would encourage more of that interaction. It was part of our failing that we didn’t know any of the Vietnamese language, but perhaps a bit more translation with some people to allow a small amount of communications would have been helpful. Thanks again for an awesome trip, and we are also looking forward to receiving the cycling jerseys from you so we can show it off to our cycling friends! : ) 24-28 May 2013
