Boats between Siem Reap and Battambang depart in either direction at 7:30 a.m. each day. The journey takes 6 to 8 hours, depending on the season, water levels, and direction of travel; the trip from Battambang to Siem Reap is usually shorter than the reverse.

In the afternoon, following lunch, there are two options:

  • Take an afternoon boat ride from Battambang to Siem Reap during the rainy season, when water levels are high (cruising available from late July to early January).
  • Take a transfer from Battambang to Siem Reap during the dry season, when water levels are low (transfer available from late January to early July).

We will cycle for 30 minutes from the hotel to catch the morning boat to Battambang. The route follows small roads and dirt tracks through the countryside, passing rice paddies and lotus fields. Along the way, you’ll see water buffalo and experience daily life across fertile farmlands before reaching Tonle Sap, where the boat awaits.

Traveling by boat from Siem Reap to Battambang is one of the best ways to see the beauty of the country. Crossing Tonle Sap Lake and its rivers is an unforgettable experience. You’ll witness authentic Cambodian life along the waterways, with traditional stilt houses and floating villages. Many locals rely on fishing in creeks, rivers, and lakes, where boats serve as the main mode of transport.

Option for traveling in the dry season:
After a leisurely breakfast, transfer from Siem Reap to Battambang (approximately 4 hours). Break for lunch in Battambang town, then check in at your hotel. Be ready for a bike ride at 2:00 p.m.

Your half-day combined cycling and bamboo train tour allows you to explore lush agricultural fields, ancient temples, and vibrant villages. You’ll also learn about local businesses and cottage industries, with stops at workshops producing snacks made from rice, bananas, and tapioca, as well as sticky rice cooked in bamboo.

Ride along scenic single tracks that lead deeper into remote hamlets. Don’t worry—support vehicles will be nearby whenever possible as you explore the Cambodian countryside.
