Vietnam Backroads designed this tour for travelers who want to combine a backroads cycling adventure with visits to many of Vietnam’s most important sites. The tour includes four of the country’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hoi An Ancient Town, the Hue Citadel, and Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, home to Son Doong Cave, are featured during the nine-day biking portion of the journey, which begins in Ho Chi Minh City and continues to Da Lat.

From there, the route rolls down to the coastal plain, then meanders up, down, and along scenic roads and paths through the DMZ, Quang Tri, and Dong Hoi before reaching Phong Nha. Visits to the beautiful Paradise Cave and Dark Cave reveal why UNESCO added this area to its World Heritage list. An overnight cruise on Ha Long Bay, the fifth UNESCO site on the tour, is an experience every visitor to Vietnam should have. Altogether, this tour offers a broad cross-section of Vietnam’s culture, geography, and both ancient and modern history.

Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam! Upon your arrival, the Vietnam Cycling Tours team will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the city center. Ha Long Bay is one of Vietnam’s most breathtaking natural wonders, famed for its emerald waters and thousands of dramatic limestone karsts, dotted with secluded beaches, hidden caves, and floating fishing villages.

Your day begins with a hotel pick-up at 08:00, followed by a scenic three-hour drive through the Red River Delta to Ha Long. Upon arrival, board your cruise around 11:30 and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink as you settle in.

Savor a delicious lunch on board while cruising through the serene seascape of Bai Tu Long Bay, known for its unspoiled beauty and fewer crowds. Continue your journey to Vung Vieng Fishing Village, one of the largest floating communities in the bay, where you can experience the daily life of local fishermen. Explore the village by kayak or traditional bamboo boat, gliding through calm waters surrounded by towering limestone formations.

Return to the cruise for time at leisure—refresh with a shower, then unwind on the sundeck as the sun dips below the horizon. Take advantage of Happy Hour at the bar while enjoying a fun cooking demonstration led by the onboard chef.

In the evening, indulge in a sumptuous dinner on board. Afterwards, relax and socialize with fellow travelers, try your hand at night squid fishing, or simply unwind under the stars. Optional onboard activities such as music, singing, and dancing are available until 22:00.
