Explore Vietnam's Four UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Vietnam Backroads designed this tour for travelers who want to combine a backroads cycling adventure with visits to many of Vietnam’s most important sites. The tour includes four of the country’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hoi An Ancient Town, the Hue Citadel, and Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, home to Son Doong Cave, are featured during the nine-day biking portion of the journey, which begins in Ho Chi Minh City and continues to Da Lat.
From there, the route rolls down to the coastal plain, then meanders up, down, and along scenic roads and paths through the DMZ, Quang Tri, and Dong Hoi before reaching Phong Nha. Visits to the beautiful Paradise Cave and Dark Cave reveal why UNESCO added this area to its World Heritage list. An overnight cruise on Ha Long Bay, the fifth UNESCO site on the tour, is an experience every visitor to Vietnam should have. Altogether, this tour offers a broad cross-section of Vietnam’s culture, geography, and both ancient and modern history.
