Cycling from Saigon to Hoi An, this journey takes you from the cool highlands of Dalat to the stunning coastline of Nha Trang. From there, follow scenic coastal roads through fishing villages, tranquil lagoons, and rural countryside, with opportunities to explore important historical and cultural sites along the way. Once part of the Cham kingdoms and later shaped by French colonization and war, this region remains deeply connected to the land, the sea, and long-held local traditions that continue to define daily life. Your adventure concludes in Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed town celebrated for its remarkably preserved architecture and relaxed riverside atmosphere.

Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City. It used to be the "Pearl of the Far East" in the last centuries as it was an important trading centre for Asian traders and Western merchants. Meet your guide and driver at the Tan Son Nhat Airport and transfer you to Saigon downtown to check in the hotel. Take a rest of the day until welcome dinner at one of the famous restaurants in town with a trip briefing.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for a domestic flight to Lien Khuong Airport. Upon arrival, meet your guide and driver for a scenic 20-minute journey to the cycling starting point. After a short bike fitting and adjustment session — including saddle height and handlebar setup — begin pedaling through Dalat’s lush countryside.

Ride past endless greenhouse gardens, fertile farmlands, and orchards bursting with temperate fruits. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing along winding backroads that meander beside gentle rivers, peaceful lakes, and rolling hillsides. The day’s cycling offers a wonderful blend of rural landscapes and refreshing highland scenery.

In the late afternoon, transfer to Dalat. The evening is at leisure for you to wander through the charming mountain town at your own pace, soaking up its cool climate and lively atmosphere while preparing for the exciting adventures ahead.

Ride along a newly paved mountain road through rolling hills, pine forests, tropical rainforest, and lush farmlands. The route offers stunning scenery, cool mountain air, and a mix of rewarding climbs and sweeping descents.

One highlight is the short but steep climb to Khanh Le Pass (Hon Giao), at 1,500m above sea level, where spectacular mountain views, waterfalls, and rainforest landscapes await. Support vehicles are always nearby for assistance. After refreshments at the summit, enjoy an exhilarating 29km downhill ride to a riverside restaurant for lunch.

In the afternoon, cycle at a relaxed pace through the countryside of Khanh Vinh, passing rice paddies, sugar cane fields, and local villages. Stop at a local market for coffee and fresh fruit before continuing to the historic Dien Khanh Citadel. A short transfer then takes you to Nha Trang in the late afternoon.

Depart Nha Trang at 7:30 am for a one-hour transfer to Van Ninh, a charming fishing township on Vietnam’s south-central coast. Begin cycling along a peaceful coastal road lined with colorful fishing boats, tiny harbors, and quiet seaside villages. Pedal through picturesque countryside dotted with rice paddies, local markets, and smiling schoolchildren waving as you pass by.

Stop at a lively local market to experience authentic daily life and sample fresh tropical fruits before continuing deeper into the rural landscape, passing fish farms and fruit orchards. The ride then leads to the short but rewarding climb over Co Ma Mountain, where spectacular panoramic views of Dai Lanh Beach and Vung Ro Bay unfold before you.

Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at Dai Lanh before getting back on the bikes for a few more kilometers. Turn toward Vung Ro Bay and continue cycling along one of the region’s most scenic coastal routes. Along the way, visit the bustling fishing port and floating fish farms before following rustic backroads through rice fields, village markets, and railway-side trails — at times even riding alongside the railway tracks themselves.

Today’s ride concludes on the outskirts of Tuy Hoa Airport. In the late afternoon, relax during a comfortable 2.5-hour vehicle transfer to Quy Nhon.

The morning commences with a short transfer from the hotel and a quick stop at the salt fields for a photo before the ride. You follow the small concrete road and ride into the picturesque rural village of Pho Khanh. The seaside countryside is quiet, with small towns and lush farms offering stunning scenery. Take a pleasant stop at the beautiful shallow lake that is home to fresh fish. The villagers do a lot of fishing on this lake using fish traps and nets during the rainy season, but grow rice and vegetables during the dry season. Continue crossing the rivers to coastal villages that offer an incredible diversity of farmlands and stunning scenery along the way.

We continue the pleasant ride toward Quang Ngai, exploring the backwaters that make your adventure more striking and enjoyable. The area offers incredible views through the river network and stunning scenery along old villages lined with bamboo trees. The varied bike routes also take you through nostalgic villages, ancient temples, and pagodas. We ride across a suspension bridge, cross the Tra Khuc River, and cycle to the My Son Memorial – the site of the My Lai Massacre in 1968. After the visit, we have lunch in a small town. The afternoon biking routes offer lush countryside, vast rice fields, cornfields, tropical sugar plantations, and small mountains and hillsides. Continue cycling along curved rivers and rolling hills to the hotel.

Begins our final day with a 30-minute transfer to the outskirts of Chu Lai Airport. Pick up our bikes, cycle on a scenic route to the coast. We pass colourful fishing boats before boarding a ferry to Tam Hai Island. A second ferry takes us back to the mainland, where local villagers make their living mainly through fishing and fish farming.

We then continue riding along smooth paved roads beside the Truong Giang River. The river and its branches offer terrific views of bamboo basket boats, wooden fishing boats, and small riverside villages. We stop for lunch and coffee at a local beachside restaurant.

As we move farther from the coast, the scenery becomes greener, with lush farmlands and rice paddies creating idyllic rural landscapes along the Truong Giang River. Later in the afternoon, we explore the backwaters of the Thu Bon River, particularly Cam Kim Island, renowned for its traditional carpentry and intricate woodcarving. The island is famous for its old villages, traditional irrigation canals, and small fishing communities with colourful sampans nestled among water palms.

This is a wonderful opportunity to discover hidden rural charm: thatched houses, buffaloes grazing in rice fields, bamboo bridges, and peaceful, remote villages. We finally cross the Thu Bon River via the Cam Kim Bridge and conclude our cycling journey at the hotel.

Weather did not co-operate. The people of Vietnam are lovely and kind, gentle and warm. The countryside is beautiful. Our guide Mr. Vien was very attentive to our needs. We learned so much from him about Vietnam and its people. Such a great experience. Every hotel was very accommodating with amazingly attentive staffs. Other than the weather the trip was perfect. 08 - 15 December 2024 Thank you! -Mike & Gail. Utah-USA
