Vietnam Coastal Cycling: Hue – Saigon 9D/8N

After breakfast, we leave the bustling city of Hue with a short vehicle transfer to a peaceful countryside village. Today’s ride begins at Thanh Toan Tile Bridge, following fantastic backroads through scenic rural landscapes, winding alongside rivers and lagoons, and passing small fishing villages. Along the way, we visit ancient colorful pagodas and temples before continuing along quiet concrete roads by the sea, passing a local beach en route to Vinh Hien, where we stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we continue riding to Phuoc Tuong, followed by a 30-minute shuttle transfer to Lang Co Beach. Here, we relax with a Vietnamese coffee and prepare for the legendary Hai Van Pass — the “Ocean Cloud Pass.” The climb to the summit covers about 12 km of winding mountain road, now with lighter traffic thanks to the vehicle tunnels below. The pass rewards us with spectacular mountain scenery, lush jungle landscapes, and breathtaking views over Da Nang Bay.

At the top, we take time to enjoy coffee, snacks, and fresh fruit while soaking in the scenery and capturing photos. Afterwards, we ride down the stunning coastal pass toward Da Nang before finishing the day with a transfer along the coastal road to Hoi An.

From Hoi An Ancient Town, we cycle across Cam Kim Bridge and through the peaceful countryside of Cam Kim Island, passing rice fields, small villages, and scenic rural landscapes. The ride covers approximately 27 km along a mix of quiet backroads, dirt trails, rural paths, and paved roads. Along the way, we cross small rivers, cycle past local farms, and meet friendly farmers going about their daily lives as we make our way toward My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival, we board an electric shuttle bus to the main temple complex. You’ll then have time to explore the ancient ruins on foot at your own pace, taking in the history and atmosphere of this remarkable site. When you are ready, simply meet your guide and return to Hoi An by private support vehicle with delicious lunch on the way back.

From the hotel, we cross Thu Bon River on the new bridge, cross Thu Bon River to authentic villages, explore entirely villager life, enjoy an excellent opportunity to see many un-modernized towns, see thatch houses, buffaloes on rice fields, bamboo bridges, and remote hamlets. Many small markets and local homes make fishing nets on country roads through villages along the small rivers where locals will stop and see how locals do their business. Meet and chat with the friendly and welcoming locals at their homes. There will be many stops at historical sites and colorful pagodas. 

We have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our fabulous ride through the farmlands. The road is natural countryside, lush farmlands. Great opportunity to see many unspoiled villages on your cycling routes. Ride along a small river and then follow the minor road to the Sea mouth, take a ferry to Tam Hai Island, then the second ferry to the mainland, and continue to experience local life through rustic villages to My Lai village, visit the memorial before we rest on vehicle transfer to Quang Ngai.

Depart early at 7:30 am for a 1.5-hour transfer Tam Quan towship for an another fantastic day ahead as the wind pushes you south toward Quy Nhon. Enjoy stunning coastal routes, peaceful lagoon life, and breathtaking mountain-pass views. 

Cycle through coconut-lined hamlets, seaside trails, sleepy beaches, and local seafood restaurants while enjoying fresh ocean views. Follow smooth rolling back roads with magnificent scenery and small hills leading to a vibrant coastal town. Continue through villages shaded by thousands of coconut trees before reaching beautiful sandy beaches dotted with traditional round bamboo boats, with fertile farmland stretching inland.

Ride onward along quiet coastal roads to the Tra O Lagoon, home to many fishing sampans. Take time to experience local life, admire mountain views, and cycle across rice paddies to a small town for lunch.

After lunch, transfer by vehicle to avoid the midday heat. In the afternoon, continue riding through the peaceful countryside of De Ghi on quiet hilly roads and narrow paths, passing sand dunes to Cat Tien. We'll jump on the support vehicle for an hour drive to Quy Nhon City.

After a quick transfer out of the city, the day begins near Tuy Hoa Airport. Ride along some of the region’s best cycling routes through vibrant villages, farmlands, rice paddies, and bustling local markets. Wave to children cycling to school as you pass primary schools, railway crossings, and peaceful countryside paths with beautiful rural scenery.

The route then turns toward the coastline, where gentle hills and tropical forest roads lead to the stunning Vung Ro Bay. Continue pedaling to the beautiful Dai Lanh Beach for lunch.

After lunch, enjoy a fantastic 23 km ride along quiet paths, passing salt fields, picturesque countryside, and dramatic mountain scenery on the way to Van Gia Town. From there, transfer for approximately 1.5 hours to Nha Trang City.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Lien Khuong Airport, boards on demestic flight to Tan Son Nhat Airport, where you will connect with your international departure flight. Trip ends.
