This cycling trip from Ha Tien or Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City is specially designed by Vietnam Cycling Tours. It is perfect for travelers coming from Cambodia who want to enter Vietnam through the Ha Tien border, or for those staying on Phu Quoc Island who want to explore the Mekong Delta by bike on the way to Saigon.

This tour connects Cambodia and Vietnam through a unique cycling journey. The trip begins in Ha Tien and takes you through the Mekong Delta, including Chau Doc, Cao Lanh, Can Tho, and finally Ho Chi Minh City. We welcome travelers from Phu Quoc Island, as well as from Kampot and Kep in Cambodia.

From Kampot and Kep:
Travelers cross the Xa Xia Border Gate and stay one night in Ha Tien. This gives you time to rest and prepare for the cycling days ahead through the Mekong Delta and its rivers.

From Phu Quoc Island:
Please book your boat tickets in advance. After checking out of your hotel at noon, take an afternoon speedboat to Ha Tien.

Your guide and driver will arrive in Ha Tien one day before the trip. In the evening, they will meet you at your hotel to say hello and give a short briefing about the upcoming journey.

You’ll be picked up at your hotel in Ha Tien and transferred a short distance to a nearby rural village. From there, begin a scenic cycling journey along smooth concrete paths that wind through rice paddies and traditional Khmer villages, some set beside small rivers near the Cambodia border. Along the 28 km morning ride, you’ll make regular stops in local villages, watch farmers harvesting rice, and meet friendly locals along the way.

After the ride, transfer by shuttle to Ba Chuc for lunch. Following lunch, visit the Ba Chuc Memorial, which commemorates more than 3,000 victims of the 1979 massacre. Continue along back roads, passing small mountains, to the Ba Chuc Killing Fields, where you’ll learn about the conflict between Vietnam and the Khmer Rouge in 1978.

After we visit the memorial site, continue cycling along gently undulating paved roads and trails toward Tra Su National Forest Reserve, a renowned bird sanctuary. Here, you’ll explore the wetlands by both rowboat and motorboat, including a ride on a traditional sampan, and enjoy a short walk through the cajuput forest. This rich ecosystem is home to a wide variety of birdlife, including storks, egrets, cormorants, peafowl, and watercocks.

At the end of your visit, transfer to Chau Doc, where the day concludes.

Chau Doc may be a small town, but it is well known for its international border crossings—both by land and water—connecting Vietnam and Cambodia and welcoming travelers from both directions.

After breakfast, take a short boat trip to explore the vibrant floating village and fish farms. As you cruise along, you’ll witness how local families raise catfish beneath their floating homes and gain insight into the daily lives of hardworking communities who live entirely on the water.

Later, enjoy an easy and relaxing cycling journey along the banks of the Mekong River. Ride through peaceful villages on quiet paths, passing fields of vegetables, chili, eggplant, and rice, as well as fish farms nestled along natural creeks.

In the afternoon, continue cycling on Gieng Islet, where you’ll visit an impressive monastery known for its distinctive architecture, browse local markets, and observe traditional stilt houses. A short ferry ride brings you back to the mainland, where the journey continues along scenic back roads through lush mango orchards toward the city of Cao Lanh.

Can Tho is known as the capital of the Mekong Delta. The Cai Rang floating market is one of the three most important markets in the area and is a must-see on your journey. You will explore small islands by bike and local ferry boats, visit Khmer villages, and stop at family-run businesses. The ride ends in a quiet rural village in Tam Binh with en-route toHo Chi Minh.
