Vietnam Cycling Tours has crafted an  mountain biking adventure that begins and ends in Sapa. For those wishing to continue their journey, the tour can also finish in Lao Cai, where cyclists can board the overnight train back to Hanoi.

This is a true mountain biking experience, offering the perfect balance of adventure and comfort, with more downhill riding than climbing. Pedal along spectacular mountain roads and scenic backcountry routes that wind through remote highland landscapes and colorful ethnic minority villages. Discover the unique cultures of the H’mong, Tay, Giay, and other hill tribes as you explore the vibrant regions of Coc Ly, Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai, and Muong Khuong.

Ride through breathtaking valleys, terraced hillsides, and rugged borderlands, where traditional villages sit just a stone’s throw from the Chinese frontier. Along the way, enjoy authentic encounters with local people, experience daily life in the mountains, and immerse yourself in some of Vietnam’s most fascinating and least-visited regions.

We begin with a short transfer to O Quy Ho village, where our cycling adventure resumes on road DT155 toward the remote villages of Ba Khoang and Ban Xeo. The morning ride is challenging, featuring steep hills, winding gravel roads, and rewarding views of misty valleys and terraced rice fields.

Reaching Ban Khoang, home to the Red Dao people, we enjoy the region’s pristine landscapes, traditional culture, and peaceful village life. We then descend through beautiful highland scenery into Ban Xeo and join road DT158, where gentler terrain leads us through rural valleys dotted with small hamlets, grazing buffalo, and working farmers. Today's bike ride will end at Ban Vuoc- a small market close to the Red River, which is also the borderline. We’ll have a shuttle drive for 45 minutes to Lao Cai city.

After an early breakfast, check out and transfer by vehicle to the outskirts of Lao Cai, enjoying spectacular mountain views and lush hillside orchards along the way. Today's ride will be a challenging one, taking us along paved mountain roads through rolling farmland and hilly terrain.

As we cycle through the scenic countryside, you'll discover remote mountain landscapes, encounter local people working in their fields, and experience the vibrant culture of the region's ethnic minority communities.

Our journey takes us to the Coc Ly Market (held every Tuesday), where we’ll witness local people trading goods in a traditional setting. Livestock such as buffaloes, cows, dogs, horses, chickens, and even cats are bought, sold, and sometimes exchanged through bartering when values align. Coc Ly Market is a bustling and colorful gathering, rich in local character and cultural exchange.

After visiting the market, we continue cycling along scenic single-track trails toward Bac Ha. The final part of today's ride is particularly challenging, involving a climb to 999 m with an average gradient of 5.3%, while our support vehicles remain close behind. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, exploring Bac Ha at your own pace.
