Embark on an unforgettable cycling odyssey that begins in the shimmering wetlands of the Mekong Delta and unfolds through the hidden heartlands of southern Vietnam. Pedal along quiet, off-the-beaten-track paths in Vinh Long, Can Tho, and Chau Doc, where life flows gently between lush rice paddies, swaying palms, and timeless riverside villages.

Cross into Cambodia and step back in time as you explore the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Sambor Prei Kuk, a sacred cradle of ancient civilization. Continue to the awe-inspiring majesty of Angkor Wat, where soaring towers and intricate carvings rise from the jungle in breathtaking harmony.

Along the way, immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Vietnamese and Cambodian cultures—warm smiles, vibrant markets, and traditions that have endured for centuries. This is more than a journey—it’s a soulful adventure through landscapes and legacies that will stay with you long after the ride ends.

Arrive at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, where the Vietnam Backroads team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel.

At 13:00, set out on a guided walking tour through Ho Chi Minh City’s vibrant streets, exploring key cultural and historical landmarks, including the Reunification Palace, the Central Post Office, and the War Remnants Museum.

Continue along Dong Khoi Street, passing iconic sites such as the renowned Nam Kha Restaurant, and the historic Caravelle, Continental, and Majestic hotels, as well as the Opera House and City Hall.

In the evening, enjoy dinner with the group at one of the city centre’s well-known restaurants.

This morning, we rise early for a unique taste of life in the Mekong, as we board a local boat and explore the colourful Cai Rang floating market, where numerous small boats advertise their products for trading by tying their goods to a tall pole attached to their boat so that buyers can see from a distance what is being sold. We then visit a traditional rice noodle factory and learn how to make rice noodles.

We hop back on the bike, continue the ride on narrow lanes to explore the hidden backwaters of Phong Dien and Binh Thuy. Visit the most beautiful ancient house in Binh Thuy, the unique harmony of French colonial architecture blended seamlessly with traditional Asian design, creating one of the region’s most fascinating historic homes. Built in 1870 by the distinguished Dương family—one of the wealthiest and most influential families in the Mekong Delta during the late 19th century—Binh Thuy Ancient House is a remarkable symbol of cultural elegance and prosperity.

Following a delicious lunch, we’ll take a 3-hour vehicle transfer to Chau Doc. Check in the hotel, and unwind by the pools.

Dear Mr Phuc, We thought the holiday was really good! In no particular order of importance: The trip notes received in advance were informative and accurate We very much appreciated the airport pick up even though we came 24 hours early, and the pick up from our hotel the next day, to join the trip (not every company would have done that, so we were impressed) The accommodation was fabulous Both cycling guides were very good, considerate of what we wanted. The route was well planned, and when we had to, for example, cycle along busy roads (only once really) the guide explained this, and gave the option to get in the van The two centres worked very well - the cycling and scenery in Vietnam and Cambodia were different. The last day of cycling around Siem Reap was great fun! The snacks and lunches were fabulous - too much food! There was a good balance of cycling and sightseeing We appreciated the little bits of luxury, like the speedboat to Phom Penh rather than a shared boat. All in all, an excellent trip that was well-priced for the quality of accommodation and support. 27 December 2025 - 04 January 2026

On our arrival, we struggled to find somewhere that we could get USD. It would have been helpful to know we could have got the cash in Dong as an alternative. Or perhaps inform people it is best to source the USD before you arrive. Mr Bao was a very courteous guide and always made sure we had everything we needed. He stopped and showed us many things that were very interesting. The bikes in Vietnam were very good and seats were good. The drivers of the bus and the truck also provided excellent service. The bikes in Cambodia were not as good. The seats were extremely uncomfortable. On the second day they offered us the gel seats which was an improvement but the seats were still much more uncomfortable than the ones in Vietnam. The power on the electric bikes in Cambodia was very intermittent, coming and going periodically. On day 3 going through Ankor Watt, I turned it off because I never knew when it was going to kick in and going through sandy parts that was abit dangerous. For the first 2 days in Cambodia, our guide Davith seemed to be mostly focused on cycling as far and as fast as possible and shared little commentary. At times the group had to ask him to slow down. The younger guide, Pat was much more friendly and helpful. However once we arrived in Siem Reap ,Davith shared a lot more and seemed to operate at a better pace. It seemed that perhaps he didn't know much about the areas outside his local area. When the airline changed our flights meaning we had to fly out earlier on the last day, he reorganized the schedule to anbke us ri enjoy the dawn at Ankor Watt the day before. That was very much appreciated. Our guide for the day in Pnomh Penh was excellent. Very friendly and informative. Overall we enjoyed our trip. It was well organized, the accommodation was good. We were a little worried before the trip started as we didn't know your company. But we will recommend it to others. 27 December 2025 - 04 January 2026 Regards
