Meo Vac is a captivating mountain town in northern Viet Nam’s Ha Giang Province and an integral part of the UNESCO-recognized Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark. Renowned for its dramatic limestone landscapes, vibrant ethnic heritage, and authentic highland atmosphere, it offers travellers a deeper glimpse into one of the country’s most remote and culturally rich regions. Perched on the edge of the spectacular Nho Que River canyon, Meo Vac is home to a diverse tapestry of ethnic communities, including the H’Mong, Dao, Tay, Giay, Lo Lo, and many others.

Their centuries-old traditions, colorful markets, and distinctive ways of life continue to shape the character of this rugged frontier district. Compared to neighboring Dong Van, Meo Vac remains quieter, less polished, and refreshingly untouched. The town has fewer tourist-oriented businesses and a more laid-back, local feel, making it especially appealing to adventurous travellers seeking authentic encounters beyond the usual tourist trail for cycling, as the road rolls through scenic valleys and breathtaking mountain landscapes on the way to Du Gia.
