The Con Dao Archipelago is a remote cluster of 16 islands located approximately 230 kilometers off the southern coast of Vietnam, just a 45-minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City. During our journey, Martin and I made a brief three-hour stopover before continuing by plane to Con Son Island, the largest and most significant island in the archipelago. Con Son serves as the gateway to Con Dao and is where most visitors choose to stay while exploring the islands. Surrounded by crystal-clear waters and dramatic coastal landscapes, the island remains one of Vietnam’s most unspoiled destinations. Beyond its breathtaking beaches and vibrant coral reefs, Con Son is also a place of profound historical significance, once home to the infamous Con Dao prison complex. Today, the island offers a unique blend of natural beauty, wildlife conservation, and cultural heritage.
